And, of course, as Emma has noted, use of backdrops doesn't need to be limited to just portrait shoots. 'All different types of people use then and they're getting everywhere,' marvels Charlie. 'They were used at the Photography Show and were on the Broncolor/Hasselblad stand at the Convention. It's just lovely that a product that I sit down at my computer in Watford and design goes worldwide - just this week we've sent backgrounds to Germany, Lithuania, Switzerland, America and Japan.

In fact, Click now has seven international distributors, which we will be building on heavily at Photokina. And it proves that in any recession, if you've got the guts to invest in an idea and run with it and work hard - we exhibit at every photography show in the UK that will have us - then you'll succeed. And we want to be a major player in the background market. If anyone wants to order from us they can just pick up the phone and if we have the item in stock then they can have it the next day, otherwise it's a week to 10 days. We listen to photographers, we work, we adapt and we evolve; there's very few companies who can say they do that. It's really important for us to listen to what our customers want - and that's what we're attempting to do.'

Furthermore, for photographers wanting a handful of backgrounds, there is the option of joining the Click Props buying club - the 'Background Club' - which Charlie believes is a UK first. 'It's £50 a month including VAT, payable via standing order. At the end of every three months they would have paid Click Props £150, yet they're allowed to order either a small and a medium, which would have cost them £200+ delivery, or they can buy a double, or a Maxi, or have £180 towards a Maxi+. When we have enough members on board I will start designing exclusive backgrounds just for them as well.'
