Editorial - August 2004 - part 1 of 1

by Mike McNamee Published 01/08/2004

We have had a couple of very interesting and busy months since the last issue. In a nutshell, the back-end timetable went something like this:

  1. Qualifications Committee meets to finalise details on digital qualifications.
  2. Phil posts some notes on the web site.
  3. Phil and Juliet depart for WPPI Las Vegas and well-earned break.
  4. National Photographic Press latches onto qualifications announcement.
  5. Phones go ballistic!

Although we were somewhat prepared for a bit of a rush and had even discussed how to manage it, the response still took us by surprise - there are going to be a lot of busy bees during the closed season! As the first organisation to break cover on digital qualifications we are also fielding calls from government bodies on the matter. The background and more detail are given in this issue and as this is being written the final drafting is being completed. Keep a watch on the web site for further announcements. One thing we can assure you is that you are to be faced with a challenge and you are going to have to put solid work into your application to acheive success.Hopefully though the rewards will follow on!
