Editorial - August-September 2007 - part 1 of 1

by Mike McNamee Published 01/08/2007

It comes as a bit of a shock to find that the summer has all but gone. Did you notice it? It was sometime in May I think but I cannot quite remember which day it was! I hope you wedding specialists have not had too tough a time of it in the rain, look on the bright side you might have been at Wimbledon. It is hardly surprising so many people are going abroad for their nuptials. With a guarantee (almost) of good weather, fabulous locations and plentiful accommodation it is looking more and more attractive. One of our members was speaking to me just as we went to press. He was waiting on a call for confi rmation of a gig in Tuscany. What a shoot this is going to be, a bride who is a professional model, a fabulous location and a surprisingly low overhead to get out there and stay for a few days - we will try and persuade him to write it up for us, once the Chianti-fuelled hangover has subsided. The only downside that I can see is getting your kit out there, the budget airlines seem to have a vendetta against camera bags these days. The security procedures defy all logic and seem more designed to earn a buck for the car park owners than the punters. At both Liverpool and Glasgow you are not allowed to approach the terminal building and your spouses are forced into the car park, risking a fee just to pick you up because you are usually delayed by the security checks coming through the terminal. Did it stop a terrorist driving I car right into the doors? I understand not - perhaps they might use the car park fees to pay for the new paint job!
