The second project that Jules worked on revolved around a set of extraordinary headpieces that had been created by Arlene Barclay, the designer for Aberdeen-based House of Halos. "We have some serious talent around here," says Jules, "and we like to get together to show the fashion world that we're here! Arlene's pieces are a bit different from the norm and are designed for film and screen, and therefore she was looking for images to reflect that. We thought about a suitable location and decided to use the setting of a derelict factory that was in the area.

When Aberdeen-based photographer Jules Macdonald wanted to create some exciting new fashion work she recruited a formidable team of creative all-girl talent to work alongside her on the projects

"There's something a little creepy but exciting about open elevator shafts, large air vents and broken windows ... it was the perfect contrast to these elegant crafted head pieces and the setting added a modern and contemporary feel to the images. Gaining access was a little tricky: in the end we found a broken window that we all managed to squeeze through. Carrying all our kit and styling accessories proved quite hard but it was all worth it in the end, even though I ended up with a bleeding foot after I stood on some broken glass: my canvas shoes were not really suitable! I could see lots of burnt out things lying around and this gave me the idea of flames, and I used this theme for some of my headpiece images."
