You cannot keep a good'un down and when Google moved in to take over Nik Software (so they could get their hands on Snapseed for mobile phones) many of the team were 'let go' as the euphemism puts it. Well they came back and have recently updated their suite of software intended for all manner of creative manipulations. Sadly it remains a Mac-only product at the present time.
Installation
Life is never easy, the software would not run on the older OS of our iMac and we have been resolutely avoiding the dreaded upgrade for quite a long time (all the way back to Snow Leopard indeed!). This latest issue of Macphun requires El Capitan and, mainly because our iMac is not mission critical for Imagemaker, we took a chance and upgraded. In the event the upgrade went reasonably well although we had to mend a kyboshed server connection before we could proceed. We also took the opportunity to upgrade all our Adobe applications, some of which also require later versions of MacOS. The installation of Macphun correctly identified Photoshop and Lightroom as resident on the machine and offered an installation as a filter via the plug-ins listing. (Note that it only becomes active in the Filter drop-down when an image is open and this has to be RGB and a single layer although both 8-bit and 16-bit operation is available.)
