As a process it worked well under the guiding chairs of Llewellyn Robins, Desi Fontaine, Richie Walton, Tony Corbell and Peter Ellis who also undertook to guide and chaperone the new judges as well as ensuring that debates were conducted in a polite and respectful manner. It is a daunting task to adjudicate the work of others in public, to talk about it and risk being out on a limb in relation to the marking of experienced judges – they all came through their baptisms with great credit! The final adjudications are conducted by secret ballot with no particular reference to the scoring of the early rounds.
It is no easy task to fight your corner as a judge and to do so under public scrutiny. The Societies are grateful to the judges, to the overall team leaders, Terrie Jones and Damian McGillicuddy, the hard-working print handlers and their team leader, Heather Hansen.
