Along with judging, teaching is another of Peter's passions. 'Teaching is a real buzz, especially working with youngsters. They often have really exciting ideas and if you can help them create their ideas just a little quicker or more efficiently then you can really help them out.' But sometimes people can seem to be almost afraid of helping those less experienced than themselves. Peter recalled a time when he asked a photographer how he got a beautiful blue sky to his shots on an overcast day. 'I asked him how he did it and he just laughed and walked away. I swore from that day on I would never be like that. If someone asks me a question then I always tell them the answer if I know it.'
Of course later Peter found out the tricks of the trade and how that blue sky had come about; 'He'd just used a blue gel, it was so simple. But he wasn't prepared to tell me because it might take business off him. If someone is that worried about losing business over something so simple then you have to wonder why they're doing a creative career like photography.'
