The Awards Dinner - part 1 of 1

Juliet Jones & Judy Naylor
We were stuck in a jam one cold night on the M23. Suddenly Phil said, "Juls, I think we should have our first awards dinner especially when we have a prize of a trip to Las Vegas". Thus the SWPP/BPPA Awards Dinner and Trade Show were born. It has been a bit like giving birth, but after a long labour and fantastic support from the trade it is going to be at the Suites Hotel, Knowsley Nr Liverpool on January 12th 2003.

Despite the hard work, within a short period time we had involved a substantial group of the trade including Fuji Digital, Fuji Professional, Kodak Professional, Campdale Albums, Spicer Hallfield, Art Leather, Montage, Ridings Frames, Graphi Studios, Photofriend, Hedley's, Leach Colour, Loxley, Grays, U Lead, Microtek, Olympus, Cambrian, Tony Sarlo UK, Somerset Paper, Epson, Nikon, Wacom, Yellow Pages, Thompson, HAS and Green Flag. All have taken a space at the Trade Show and donated some fabulous prizes towards each of the yearly category winners. In total we have prizes up to the value of £10,000.

As has been previously and widely promoted, the winner of this year's prestigious "Photographer of the Year" will win an exciting trip to Las Vegas. This prize includes going to the WPPI Convention, air flight ticket and accommodation at Bally's Hotel on the Strip for 6 nights as well as $100 towards expenses. Other prizes include: a complete sample Graphi Album, an Olympus C220z Compact Digital Camera, a Nikon Coolpix 2000 Digital Camera, Canon S900 Inkjet Printer, a complete Elizabeth Countess Album by Spicer Hallfield and many more.

We have made arrangements for Terry Hansen (President), Tom Lee (Vice Pres.), Mike McNamee and Mike Williams to do mini seminars during the day. These will take place in one of the side rooms as detailed below:
10:00 am Mike Williams LSWPP on Wedding Digital Capture
11:15 am Montage from Spicer Hallfield - doing a display of their product
12:30 pm Tom Lee FSWPP Digital Capture - How to get most out of your digital camera?
1:15 pm U Lead - a demonstration of Impact 8
2:30 pm Mike McNamee FBPPA - Digital Output
3:45 pm Terry Hansen FSWPP - Child Portraiture

Even if you choose to see all the seminars there is still time to browse around the trade show, see the latest technology and talk to the company specialists who will be on hand.

You will need to preserve enough strength for the evening when we host the main event, the Awards Dinner. This kicks off with drinks at 6:30 p.m., followed by a superb five-course dinner. All the prizes are to be awarded then, so you have to be there. Even if you are not a competition winner, there will be a raffle with a wide and exciting selection of prizes, donated by our friends in the trade.
