The psd file shows 47 Layers, 72 Adjustment Layers and 103Layer/Adjustment Layer masks – every item on the table and at the table carries its own mask and adjustments. The huge number of adjustment layers reflects the need to harmonise the tonal values across the composite – Tracy has avoided the old trick of smearing a harmonising Bleach Bypass (or its ilk) across her image.

The image is, of course, all about concept (and hard work!). There is nothing particularly challenging about the Photoshop work, it is mainly a case of keeping control of the layers (by naming and grouping them) and making effective masks. Keeping control of the dogs is another challenge – you cannot get a Photoshop pre-set for that! The result, though, is anything but ordinary, being both arresting and amusing.
