How did you rectify the mistake?
I ended up, after a long process of attempting to appease the couple through re edits and such like, offering a partial refund. I sought legal advice through MPA legal team and we came to a legally binding resolution, which we were all in agreement with. I found out from other vendors that the couple had complained about everything and demanded refunds from most vendors.

The lessons learnt?
Trust your instinct and only book weddings that you feel fit your style. You will never be able to fulfil someone expectations if they are wanting something totally different from the outset. Also, I learnt that some people will never be pleased and to steer clear when you get the warning signs.

Is it getting harder or easier to make a decent living?
My business is fairly solid and was never affected by any downturns. By staying fairly high end and exclusive you can rise above any financial problems in the country. There are always those that have money too spend and are willing too spend it on quality wedding photography and art. It is about matching the quality of your work and perception of your place in the market to these clients.

How do you stay ahead of the game?
By constantly adapting and shifting my business when I see the need / desire to develop expand and explore new routes/ niches. I have been working as a photographer for 14 years and I never stand still. I am continually watching to see what is working within my business and what is not and am open to adapting to keep it moving forwards.

How do organisations such as The Societies of Photographers help?
Professional advice, resources, communities and pushing you to create your best work. Learning seminars and workshop.

Why is The Societies of Photographers Convention such a big deal forphotographers?
It brings together all of the above in one place at one time, at a time of year that is quieter.

Is it primarily about the chance to learn from the experiences of imaging icons?
It great to see a huge a variety of work to find inspiration.
