As we explained at the outset, this was one of the larger specification changes we made after the initial scoping exercise. Adobe recommend at least 2GB of on-board graphics card RAM and so we specified 4GB to provide headroom (as we intend to run two monitors). The graphics card specifications of today are almost totally dominated by the requirements of gamers to the extent that it is difficult to seek out meaningful advice (PC Pro for example reviewed a large number of graphics cards recently and barely mentioned commercial uses such as graphic design).

It is also difficult to find out if a chosen graphics card will allow for discrete profiling of two monitors. In technical terms this requires discrete LUTs (Look Up Tables) on the graphics card but even so there are warnings on the various forums about stuff not actually working in practice. In the end, we decided to risk a single card and see how we got on. Luckily everything seems to be fine. We have been able to profile and audit both our Eizo ColorEdge 243W and Dell U2412M monitors and obtain quite nice statistics.

The Keyboard
We toyed with the purchase of a new keyboard but ultimately stayed with the trusty 1988 IBM one we have, replete with Lotus 123 and WordPerfect shortcut stickers! Nothing we have every used quite matches the feel of the keys.
