Lastolite

Alternative options for an affordable and portable lighting set-up are presented by Lastolite. For those who don't want to forget about the basics, the TriGrip Difflector, available in 18-inch, 30-inch, 48-inch sizes, is described as the world's first dual purpose reflector panel which can be used as a diffuser and a bounce reflector. The unique fabric developed for this product allows light to pass through one side, diffusing it by two stops and bouncing it off the other side, making it suitable for use whatever the lighting conditions. The TriGrip Difflector is available in both a soft silver or soft gold bounce. It also features Lastolite's claimed unique TriGrip moulded handle for accurate positioning of the reflector with just one hand. Prices start at £48.

Lastolite is also pitching its new Ezybox Speed-Lite, which is described as a 22cm x 22cm mini soft-box that attaches directly onto a flashgun whether it's on or off the camera. The soft-box folds in the same way as Lastolite's existing Ezybox soft-boxes making for what the manufacturer claims is an ultra portable solution for busy photographers. For around £50 the Ezybox Speed-Lite also features an inner and outer diffusion layer - which are both removable. If you're looking to get maximum soft light from a small soft-box, the Ezybox Speed-Lite is one to check out. In addition to Lastolite's traditional square Ezybox Hotshoe soft-box, also available is the Hotrod Strip soft-box for use with battery-operated flashguns. This comes in two different sizes and features an inner diffusion panel and an adapter plate with rods. The flashgun simply slides onto a shoe mount attached to the adapter plate. The Hotrod Strip soft-box produces a narrow band of light, useful for creating side lighting for full-length fashion or portrait photography or for a soft hair light. The narrow profile also allows for achieving elongated catch lights in product photography, according to its manufacturer. To provide an alternative catchlight Lastolite also provides a Hotrod Octa soft-box, with again two sizes available - 70cm and 90cm - and at £150 and £168 respectively.
