On a quieter and more considered level David Edmonson delivered a masterclass on the history of fine art from the Renaissance and Impressionist periods as it applies to his picture making. Ably supported and prompted by his talented son Luke, it was fascinating to explore the inner symbols and signalling of the old masters, the significance of their prop choice and the ways and means of acquiring such props from eBay in the present day. It was also interesting to see the images of tradesmen building the sets – there's not too much Photoshop goes on around the Edmonson studio, a lot is done in-camera. As I departed the class was getting down to some sketching and idea-generation in small groups and the picture shows two maestros (Julia Boggio and David Edmonson) getting down to work – what I would have given to muscle in on that conversation! Apparently Julia has recently been entrusted to shoot Edmonson grandchildren (that might be an interesting article!).

The final 'type' of seminar based in the hotel is the 'live model' shoot for which various locations around the Hilton are brought into play.

The residents of the Executive Lounge were treated to both Tilly and Angelique strutting their stuff in the corridor outside the door. Far from being disturbed by the antics of all these crazy photographers, the residents seem to take it all in good humour and look on with benevolent amusement!
