Charlotte came to us wanting a '50' style session. She'd never done a photo shoot before, so we knew we couldn't start tying her, legs akimbo to the bed. These needed to be soft, seductive images that still had that taste of submissiveness. Sexy and understated was the goal.
We started our shoot on the bed, as we do with all our boudoir sessions.
This allows the client to relax into the pose without worrying about sucking and tucking bits in. Introducing the blindfold was suggestive without being overtly racy. It also gave us the opportunity to create some pseudo anonymous images which, at The English Boudoir Company, is some of our bestselling work (wall art is hugely saleable providing its mother-in-law friendly). Something we cover extensively in our boudoir training, is our preference to shoot tungsten. Aside from a stylistic choice, tungsten enables us to create a calming, low level of light on set. From a woman's point of view, the last thing you want when you're stood in your kecks is 500 watts of flash bouncing off your pasty bits.
As Charlotte became more comfortable we were able to introduce more props and poses - experimenting with a 'kinkier' edge. The key to this shoot however, remained the power of suggestion; the curve of an arched back, a glance away from the lens, the magnetism of an open mouth. This is '50' from a woman's point of view; provocative, alluring and distinctly un-slutty. Perhaps, in reality, husbands up and down the country would prefer Baikie's dirty dungeon, but remember, in this instance, and indeed most of the time, we're selling to women.
