A Place in the Sun - part 2 of 1 2

Tuesday was supposed to begin at 5am as Angelika and I had decided to get up with the sun and do a shoot at the swimming pool and on the shore beyond it. Unfortunately a herd of elephants and a brass band would not have awakened the sleeping beauty, so I gave up and went back to bed! It ended up being a bit of a lazy day. Angelika arranged a shoot with Dave Facey which was cool, then I took her out to sample the local cuisine. We found a lovely little restaurant round the corner from the hotel and sat out on the front eating and drinking local wine.

On Wednesday morning I hired a car and we set off to the coolest place ever - Popeye Village, where they made the Robin Williams' Popeye movie back in 1980. It's so cool! We shot here for a while, but it was very busy with tourists (like us) and they kept getting in the way!! We then drove to Selmun Palace and shot some stuff at a nearby church, and this cool little corner I found!

Then it was back to the hotel. Last night in Malta. Unfortunately despite trawling the area I couldn't find a place showing Barca v Rangers in the Champions' league, so we had to make do with Inter Milan at the Hard Rock Cafe.

So Thursday arrived and it was time to say goodbye to everyone. And say goodbye to this beautiful island. A last day of sunshine and time to pack the suitcase.

A great week, and I will be back soon. Thanks to everyone who made this week so special. To the maltese photographers for their excellent hospitality and friendship, and to Phil, Juliet and co for the hard work behind the scenes as ever. Thanks to the speakers and the UK delegates who were all great company. Thanks to Angelika for putting up with me for a week, and a special thank-you to Gordon McGowan for all his help, advice and encouragement throughout the time there. Anyone who has the chance to go to next year's event should jump at the chance, it's well worth it.
