10. Do you keep a stock of potential imagesfor use as backgrounds, skies, buildings,etc and if so how do you browse them?
Yes. I photograph everything everywhere I go...everything is a potential layer in a composite, I havean external hard drive specifically to keep them all on,it's pretty full, I'm going to need another soon.

11. Do you use sketches to aid composition,perspective choice or lighting direction?
Most definitely ... I use sketching as the initial plan forevery creation.

12. Do you generate the idea and then goand source the images using the intendedlighting and perspective?
Sometimes, most times though I will photograph thesubject, experimenting with lighting and positioning- experimenting as I go, until I create an image whichreflects their character. I then go to the sketch padand scribble ideas around a print of the portrait, oftenthis will be colours, words, shapes ...as the ideas cometogether I then move on to the PC.

13. Which is your preferred imagemanipulation program, if it isPhotoshop, what version and do you useanything else?
Photoshop CC - I use nothing else.

14. What is your preferred method ofadjusting masks in montaging?
I make hundreds of adjustment layers for each of myimages. Most layers are tweaked in Camera Raw.

15. Do you make intermediate proofs or storeinstances of work in progress?
Yes for most images.

16. How do you determine that an image isfinished?
Every image after completion is left for two days. Ithen go back to it with a fresh pair of eyes ... usuallyif something needs tweaking I will then see it, havingtaken a break! If it looks right, tells the story I wantedit to and gives a sense of the subject's personality ... it'scomplete.

17. How do you harmonise colour across amontage of different image sources?
Again I will make colour adjustment layers, drawinghues and tints in to the separate layers, drawing themtogether; some processes can be done with textures too.My techniques are not conventional as I taught myselfPhotoshop!

18. If creative images are not part of yourmainstream income, why do you makethem?
They are. But if I did not make a good income from thiswork I would do it anyway, because for me it's more thanjust a job. Creative artistry whether it's photography,drawing or sculpting is a form of expression andrelaxation. It's part of me and I'm not sure what lifewould be like without it!

19. How long do you spend on each image?Anywhere between an hour and five hours usually.
