In his article in February, Ron Pybus showed a piece of business literature offering the combined services of photography, cars, cakes flowers and a hotel, pulling together the pool of talent required to accomplish the wedding day successfully.

Purely by coincidence, the operation at Dwynwen (for the non-Welsh speakers it is pronounced 'dwin-win') is built on a similar business model. Owners, Anne and Alan Hindle, took on the quaint old school house in the small Welsh village of Griainrhyd (pronounced 'gri-an-drid') and are in the final stages of a twoyear refurbishment which is even to include keeping the old hopscotch 'court' in the playground!

Various shots taken by Aled Oldfield during the charity day at Dwynwen. The kilt and suit were shot at 500 ISO under difficult back lit conditions. Luminance and colour smoothing were employed in Adobe RAW. The car shot looks to be a good match to Ferrari Rossa Corsa, although nobody is quite sure what the colour is since they changed it in 1996 to match the gamut of the TV cameras!

The school is a red-brick, Victorian building with just two classrooms separated by high wooden sliding doors with brass fittings - it really is quite nostalgic for baby-boomers arriving with their daughters in tow! Anne recently completed her complement by bringing SWPP member, Aled Oldfield, on-board as the resident photographer, sited within the building. With one representative for each of the required talents to organise a wedding, a couple can arrive with just a few ideas and leave having sorted dresses, flowers, cakes, table settings, stationery, favours, balloons, suit hire, underwear, shoes and jewellery! Perhaps for the locals and those returning to Wales to marry, they also do a fine line in hand-made Welsh love spoons. And come they do with a client list extending right down into the southwest of England.

For photographer, Aled Oldfield, setting up the studio is a return to base, as this was the school where he spent his formative years - what goes around comes around!
