This shot is as difficult as it gets for digital - white dresses in bright sun and deep shadows beneath the logs. The S5 hasthe exposure centred to just clip the highlights and a slightreduction in the exposure value in Camera RAW followed bybringing back the mid-tones with the Brightness slider didthe trick. Even so, we could not resist some enhancementwith Nik Filters to create even more mystery.

Overall

All good things come to an end, the S5 has been returned to Fujifilm! We are left with a feeling that this is a camera that is going to meet with some success in the wedding and social sector. The combination of the tough D200 skeleton and the image-handling properties of the Fujifilm chip makes for a winning combination.

The ability to handle high dynamic range is the key feature, as shown in the last issue, the operation remains slow, but is faster than the S3; the FinePix Viewer software is significantly slow, but better at highlight recovery, many users will wish to keep it in reserve for those difficult shots, at which it does excel. visit www.fujifilm.co.uk
