Assembly printing

SWPP Photographic Glossary

A colour printing technique that combines separate images captured or recorded on yellow, magenta, and cyan films (the primary colour separations) to produce a final full-colour print. Each film contributes its respective colour layer, and when overlaid in precise alignment, they reproduce the full range of colours in the original image. Assembly printing is commonly used in traditional photographic and commercial printing processes, including early colour reproduction, advertising, and fine art printing.
