A basic automatic image correction feature commonly found in scanning and image-processing software. It analyzes the tonal range of an image and attempts to adjust brightness and contrast so that the highlights, midtones, and shadows align with a neutral scale. While convenient for quick corrections, Auto Levels works best on images with a neutral colour balance and often cannot achieve professional-quality optimization on its own. It is usually used as a starting point before further manual adjustments for precise colour and tonal control.
