Chloride paper

SWPP Photographic Glossary

Chloride paper is a type of photographic printing paper coated with a silver chloride emulsion. It is much less sensitive to light than silver bromide paper, making it ideal for contact printing, where the negative is placed directly onto the paper. Chloride paper produces soft tonal images and was historically used in early photographic printing processes before faster, more versatile papers became common.
