Chromatype

SWPP Photographic Glossary

Chromatype is an early photographic printing paper known for being extremely slow and low in sensitivity, making it suitable primarily for contact printing. Due to its slow speed, it required long exposure times but could produce fine, detailed images with delicate tonal gradations, typical of 19th-century photographic processes.
