Colour Compensatory Filters

SWPP Photographic Glossary

Colour compensatory filters are pale-coloured photographic filters used to subtly adjust the colour temperature of a scene, either warming or cooling the subject's colours. These filters help correct lighting imbalances, enhance natural tones, and prevent unwanted colour casts in both film and digital photography. Photographers often use them in portrait, landscape, and product photography to achieve more pleasing and accurate colour reproduction, improve mood, and maintain consistency across different lighting conditions.
