Memory

SWPP Photographic Glossary

Memory, often referred to as RAM (Random Access Memory), is the part of a computer that temporarily stores and processes data, including digital images. Adequate memory is essential for image editing, manipulation, and running graphics-intensive software efficiently.

Understanding memory is important for photographers, digital artists, and graphic designers who work with large files or perform complex editing tasks. Computers with higher RAM-ideally 128 MB or more-allow smoother workflows, faster processing, and the ability to handle multiple applications without slowing down, ensuring efficient image editing and production.
