Paraphotography

SWPP Photographic Glossary

Paraphotography is a general term used to describe photographic processes that do not rely on silver halide for image formation. Instead, these methods may use alternative light-sensitive materials or chemical reactions to create an image.

Examples of paraphotographic techniques include cyanotype, gum bichromate, and other historical or experimental processes. These methods offer photographers creative possibilities beyond traditional silver-based photography, allowing exploration of unique textures, colours, and artistic effects.
