Photo Silkscreening

SWPP Photographic Glossary

Photo silkscreening is a printing technique that uses a photographic process to create stencils for silkscreen printing. A photographic image is transferred onto a screen coated with a light-sensitive emulsion, which is then exposed and developed to produce a stencil. Ink is pushed through the open areas of the stencil onto the printing surface, reproducing the image with precision.

This method allows for detailed, high-quality reproductions of photographs, illustrations, or graphic designs on various materials, including paper, fabric, and other surfaces. Photo silkscreening is widely used in art, commercial printing, and creative projects where vibrant, repeatable images are required.
