Slow Film

SWPP Photographic Glossary

Slow film is photographic film with a low sensitivity to light, typically rated at ISO 50 or lower. Because of its low sensitivity, slow film requires longer exposures or brighter lighting conditions to produce a correctly exposed image.

Slow films are valued for their fine grain, high detail, and superior image quality, making them ideal for studio photography, landscape work, and situations where image sharpness and tonal accuracy are more important than speed.
