Unipod

SWPP Photographic Glossary

A unipod, also known as a monopod, is a single-legged camera support that provides stability similar to a tripod while remaining more portable and flexible. It is particularly useful for reducing camera shake during slower shutter speeds or when using heavy lenses.

Photographers use unipods in wildlife, sports, and event photography where mobility is important but stability is still required. Understanding the benefits of a unipod allows for sharper images, easier handling of large cameras, and improved control during extended shooting sessions.
